I was referred to underwriting - what happens next?

The application review process can vary in length, depending on how much additional information is needed

Written by Kaycie Gaige

If your application is referred to underwriting, an underwriter will review your application and determine whether any additional information is needed before a decision can be made.

In some cases, the underwriter may be able to make a decision based on the information already provided.

If more information is needed, you may be asked to provide:

  • Answers to follow-up questions

  • Additional documents

  • Medical records

  • A health exam

If medical records are requested, the review may take longer because we’ll need to receive the records from your healthcare provider before underwriting can continue.

If a health exam is required, you’ll receive instructions for scheduling it. The exam is provided at no cost to you.

How long does underwriting take?

Timing varies depending on whether additional information is needed. Some applications can be reviewed within a few days. Applications that require medical records, a health exam, or additional follow-up may take several weeks.

We’ll email you if anything is needed from you and again once a decision has been made.
