Managing Challenges Together
We understand that times are difficult for many these days, and we want you to know that the safety and health of our customers is our priority. As a way to assist you and your family, in the event that you fall behind on the payment of your policy’s premiums, we have temporarily suspended the lapsing, or cancellation, of policies due to non-payment through July 1, 2020.
What if I missed payments during the pandemic?
If you’ve missed payments, you may also be eligible to receive a 12 month period to make them up by submitting to us, in writing, that you could not make timely premium payments due to financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This opportunity is available even if we sent you a lapse notification prior to March 29, 2020.
What happens to my policy after July 1, 2020?
If your payments are between thirty and sixty days past due and you did not receive the 12-month extension, your policy will technically have lapsed, but our system will automatically attempt to collect the missed payments in order to reinstate your policy to good standing.
If your payments are more than sixty days past due and you did not receive the 12-month extension, your policy will lapse due to nonpayment. This means your policy will no longer be active and you will no longer be covered.
If you received the 12-month extension, your coverage will continue. Each month, over the duration of the extension, you will automatically be charged for that month’s premium payment as well as a portion of the missed premiums owed. After 12 months, once all of the missed premiums are paid, your monthly amount will return to be the amount due for that current month’s premium payment.
