Help! I'm ineligible to open a kid's investment account

Find out why you may be ineligible for a kid's investment account and what you can do next

Written by Glenda

You may see an ineligible message for one of two reasons:

1. You don’t meet the account eligibility requirements

Common reasons for ineligibility are:

  • The child must be under 15 years of age

  • The custodian does not meet the age requirement

  • Contribution setup: The linked bank account must be a checking account

2. We’re unable to verify your information

In some cases, we may be unable to verify the information provided during signup. When that happens, the account may become ineligible.

Please note:

  • We are not able to override an ineligible outcome

  • We’re not able to share the specific reasons for an ineligible outcome

  • You will not be charged for an account that is ineligible
