Can I change the custodian of the account?
No, it would not be possible to change the custodian managing the account. UGMA accounts can only have one custodian, which is the individual who opens the account.
Can I add a second custodian or give shared account management?
It’s not possible to add a second custodian or grant joint management access. Each child’s account is legally registered with a single adult who manages the account on the child’s behalf until they reach the age of majority, which varies by state.
If another parent or guardian would like visibility, you’re welcome to share account updates or statements directly with them. However, only the designated custodian can:
Make contributions or withdrawals
Update account information
Change investment settings
