Can I add my partner or spouse to my child’s investment account?

UGMA accounts can only have one custodian. It’s not possible to add a second custodian or grant joint management access. Each child’s account is legally registered with a single adult who manages the account on the child’s behalf until they reach the age of majority, which varies by state.

If another parent or guardian would like visibility, you’re welcome to share account updates or statements directly with them. However, only the designated custodian can:

  • Make contributions or withdrawals

  • Update account information

  • Change investment settings

  • Access official documents

If you believe the custodian needs to be changed due to a legal or life event, please contact Support so we can help review your options.
