What is the accidental death rider?
An accidental death rider is optional coverage that can be added to some term life insurance policies. The rider provides an additional benefit if the insured person dies as the result of a qualifying accident, subject to the terms of the policy.
What is the difference between term life insurance and the accidental death rider?
Term life insurance pays a benefit to your beneficiaries if the insured person passes away while the policy is active, subject to the terms of the policy. An accidental death rider provides an additional benefit if the insured person dies due to a qualifying accident.
Your term life insurance policy already includes coverage for accidental death, subject to the policy terms. The accidental death rider provides extra coverage for qualifying accidental deaths.
Can I add an accidental death rider?
If approved for term life insurance and available in your state, you'll be able to add the rider at the time of purchase. You may be able to add an accidental death rider within the first 30 days of purchasing your term life insurance policy.
The accidental death rider cannot be added after the first 30 days.
Can I change my accidental death rider coverage amount?
You can reduce your accidental death rider coverage amount at any time.
The accidental death rider coverage amount cannot be higher than your term life insurance coverage amount. If you reduce your term life insurance coverage and your accidental death rider amount is higher than the new term coverage amount, your accidental death rider amount will also be reduced.
Can I cancel my accidental death rider?
Yes. If your policy was purchased on or after September 3, 2022, you can cancel your accidental death rider directly from your Fabric account without canceling your term life insurance policy. To cancel only your accidental death rider:

Click the three dots in the upper right corner
Select Manage policy
Choose Cancel AD rider

Can I cancel my term life insurance policy and keep the accidental death rider?
No. The accidental death rider is attached to your term life insurance policy. If you cancel your term life insurance policy, the accidental death rider will also be canceled.

No. The accidental death rider is not be available in CA, FL, or NY.
